Vermont Musicians To Perform At Ray Paczkowski Benefit

Keyboardist Ray Paczkowski of the Trey Anastasio Band & Soule Monde underwent surgery earlier this year to remove a brain tumor. While Ray is expected to make a full recovery, he is still undergoing treatment and has been unable to perform or work at his other job as a carpenter. A bevy of Paczkowski’s fellow Vermont-based musicians will come together at The T-Rex Theater at Essex Cinemas in Essex Junction, Vermont on May 16 to take part in the Sun Ray Orchestra, a benefit for Ray.

Mihali of Twiddle will kick off the evening with a solo acoustic set. An impressive lineup of musicians has been arranged to take part in The Sun Ray Orchestra including Paczkowski’s TAB/Soule Monde band mate Russ Lawton, Pappy Biondo of Cabinet, Heloise Williams of Viperhouse, Giant Country Horns saxophonist Dave Grippo, one-time Jazz Mandolin Project drummer Gabe Jarrett, Twiddle keyboardist Ryan Dempsey, Bob Wagner of Kat Wright’s band and bassist Robinson Morse. Michael Chorney, Aaron Hersey, Miriam Bernardo, Ron Rost, Brett Hughes, Josh Weinstein, Tyler Mast, Steve Hadeka, Peter Day, Zach Nugent, Greg Mastes, Sean Preece, Clint Bierman, Brett Lanier and Brian Boyes are also expected to perform.

As reported, friends of Paczkowski have started a GoFundMe campaign which has raised over $18,000 as of press time. The goal for the drive is to raise $30,000 for the keyboardist, so that Ray has “financial security during this time” and can “concentrate on getting better without the added burden of financial distress.”
