In 1967 influential rock band The Velvet Underground unveiled their debut album, The Velvet Underground & Nico. The LP starts with the gorgeous Lou Reed/John Cale co-write “Sunday Morning.” Open Culture recently shared footage from 1966 of the band composing the song.
Filmmaker Rosalind Stevenson hosted the band at her apartment in 1966, where she shot the film. It took until 1994 for the footage to see the light of day. While the film is silent, the footage was paired with the studio version of “Sunday Morning” for its broadcast on the BBC program Peel Slowly And See.
