Umphrey’s played a pair of career-spanning sets at Buffalo’s Amphithteatre on Friday. The first set culminated with a cover of David Bowie’s “Fame,” while the second set started off with an inventive “Similar Skin” > “Glory” > “Similar Skin” sequence. Later in the second set, bassist Oteil Burbridge took over for Ryan Stasik on “Bridgeless.” Last night, UM welcomed many more guests for their lone set at Buffalo’s Amphitheatre. Eleven-year-old guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, who collaborated with a number of bands at this year’s Bear Creek, emerged for a “Booth Love” that also saw contributions from Lettuce horn players Eric Bloom and Ryan Zoidis. The Lettuce horns stuck around for a debut cover of Huey Lewis & The News’ “Power Of Love” featuring vocals from UM drummer Kris Myers. Simon Allen held down the drum seat while Kris belted out the ’80s classic. Trumpeter Nicolas Payton emerged for “Day Nurse” that along with “Mulche’s Odyssey” served as UM’s Saturday night encore at Bear Creek.

We’ll have much more from Bear Creek ’14 in the coming days.
