Chicago sextet Umphrey’s McGee played a total of three sets on Saturday at the Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, Illinois. The band started the day with a performance filled with rarities in front of an intimate crowd of VIPs at Three Sisters Park’s church and ended Saturday with a pair of a sets on the Sunshine Stage.

Umphrey’s continued a tradition of performing for a small audience of SCamp VIPs on Saturday and worked in a number of songs they don’t often play. The band opened with just the third “Professor Wormbog” in the last 13 months and continued with “Mad Love.” Up next was just the 11th-ever rendition of Safety In Numbers ballad “The Weight Around” which was followed by staple “40’s Theme.” Hard-hitting rarity “Sludge & Death” was trotted out for just the fourth time since 2007 and led into a solo performance of Led Zeppelin’s “Thank You” from keyboardist Joel Cummins. “Go To Hell” then closed out the intimate performance.

The sextet’s pair of sets on the Sunshine Stage was chock full of heavy hitters. Umphrey’s was in full rock mode form as they delivered such dream sequences as “Wizard Burial Ground” > “Attachments” > “Wizard Burial Ground” and “Nothing Too Fancy” > “Phil’s Farm” > “Nothing Too Fancy.” They also spread “Puppet String” out with portions included in both sets. “Miss Tinkle’s Overture,” “Resolution,” “All In Time,” “Ringo” and “1348” were also among the jam songs performed by UM last night. The group ended their Saturday at Summer Camp by covering Mark Ronson’s “Daffodils” for just the fourth time and ending “All In Time.”

The Summer Camp Music Festival concludes today at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe.
