Umphrey’s McGee Performs ‘Crucial Taunt’ At TELEFUNKEN Lab

Umphrey’s McGee unveiled pro-shot video featuring a studio version of “Crucial Taunt” recorded at TELEFUNKEN’s factory in South Windsor, Connecticut this past winter. The performance is the latest in Telefunken’s Live From The Lab video series.

The sextet debuted the live version of “Crucial Taunt” at the Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, Illinois in 2012. Brendan Bayliss handles lead vocals on the original which has been played live a total of 46 times. The take UM recorded at Telefunken’s factory was brought to Nashville for overdubs and is the initial UM tune mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Ryan Hewitt. Members of Umphrey’s will discuss the track and more during the Facebook video premiere of “Crucial Taunt” this afternoon (Thursday, September 12) at 2 p.m. CT here.
