Last night, Umphrey’s McGee continued a cross-country tour with TAUK at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Chicago sextet worked a tribute to Prince into the performance and today have announced a show in Nashville in which they will be joined by members of a symphony.
On August 20, Umphrey’s McGee will return to Nashville for their first-ever performance at The Ascend Amphitheater. The band will be joined by members of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra for a unique musical collaboration. A pre-sale and umVIP on-sale will begin this Monday, April 25 at 10 a.m. CT ahead of the public on-sale Friday, April 29 at 10 a.m. CT.

UM’s performance at Cain’s Ballroom last night started with the return of instrumental intro “Auf Wiedersehen” for the first time since January. The band dusted off a cover of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” within the second set to honor the musician who died earlier in the day. UM first played “When Doves Cry” in The Purple One’s hometown of Minneapolis on April 24, 2015 and then performed it once more at The Werk Out festival last August.
