Umphrey’s McGee Announces New Year’s Run Openers

Chicago’s Umphrey’s McGee bring their New Year’s Run back to The Fillmore Auditorium in Denver this year. For now, the band has confirmed performances on December 30, New Year’s Eve and January 2. Keyboardist Joel Cummins hinted on Twitter that “there will be something very cool & unique for UM on 1/1 in Denver.” While we await word on what’s up for New Year’s Day, Umphrey’s has announced openers for December 30 and January 2.
On December 30 soul-funk act The Nth Power will open for Umphrey’s. New Year’s Eve doesn’t feature an opener, but on January 2 The London Souls will kick off the festivities. Tickets for all three shows are on sale now.
Today, September 1, marks a very special day in Umphrey’s McGee history. Fifteen years ago today guitarist Jake Cinninger played his first show as a full-time member of Umphrey’s McGee. Listen to a soundboard recording of the historic gig via archive.org:
