Fifty years ago today on May 5, 1965 a group of musicians calling themselves The Warlocks played their first public concert at Magoo’s Pizza Parlor in Menlo Park, California. The Warlocks became the Grateful Dead, whose remaining core four –Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann -will come together this summer for five Fare Thee Well -Celebrating 50 Years Of Grateful Dead concerts being held in Santa Clara, California and in Chicago, which will be streaming on pay-per-view webcasts and shown in select theaters around the United States. Deadheads in the United Kingdom can view the final show from Chicago featuring the core four with Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio and keyboardists Bruce Hornsby and Jeff Chimenti at theater screenings the day following the last concert.

According to NME, CinemaLive will show a taping of the final Fare Thee Well concert held at Chicago’s Soldier Field on July 5 at 250 theaters across the U.K. on July 6. The specific theaters showing the concert will be named next week. Tickets for the screenings go on sale May 13.

The Fare Thee Well performances will take place in Santa Clara, California on June 27 and 28 and in Chicago July 3, 4 and 5. All five sold-out shows will be available as pay-per-view webcasts. The three Chicago shows will also be simulcasted in theaters nationwide.
