Watch U2’s The Edge Sing Lead On ‘War’ Rarity For 1st Time Since 1985

Fans attending Friday’s U2 concert as part of the band’s U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere residency in Las Vegas were treated to some setlist rarities. The group performed their song “Seconds” live in public for the first time since 1985.

The “Seconds” bust out came during the concert’s segment performed on a turntable stage designed by Brian Eno. The portion of the show typically sees stripped-down arrangements of songs from a single album, with Friday mostly focused on 1983’s War.

After beginning the turntable stage set with “All I Want Is You” from Rattle And Hum, the band played the War track “Two Hearts Beat As One” for the first time since 2015. Frontman Bono then introduced drummer Bram van den Berg (who is filling in for Larry Mullen Jr.) and bassist Adam Clayton.

Bono then revealed the reason he had not yet introduced The Edge was because guitarist was about to sing lead on U2’s first performance of “Seconds” in 38 years. At the time of its release, “Seconds” marked the first time the band recorded a song with someone other than Bono singing lead.

“Two Hearts Beat As One” and “Seconds” were followed by the first Sphere performance of the War standout “Sunday Bloody Sunday.” Watch U2 bust out “Two Hearts Beat As One” and “Seconds” below:
