Twiddle Closes Out Tumble Down & Announces 2018 New Year’s In Boston

Vermont-based jam quartet Twiddle closed out this year’s Tumble Down festival at Waterfront Park in Burlington on Saturday with three sets that included a handful of special guests and a special “Orlando’s” performance. The band also confirmed they will end 2018 with two nights in Boston.

Twiddle kicks off their year-ending visit to Boston with an intimate performance at Paradise Rock Club on December 30. The foursome will then ring in 2019 at the House Of Blues on December 31. VIP packages are on sale now here and include tickets to both shows, a VIP laminate, access to soundcheck and meet and greet on December 30, early entry on New Year’s Eve on more. Tickets for the band’s New Year’s Eve show go on sale this Friday, August 3 at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster. “Only people that have bought a ticket to the NYE show will be emailed a password to purchase tickets to Paradise Rock Club on Friday, August 10” as per Twiddle’s announcement.

While Twiddle’s headlining performance on Friday at Tumble Down was cut short due to weather, the quartet had no such issues on Saturday. The foursome opened their first of three sets with “Second Wind” and “Dr. Remidi’s Meltdown” before welcoming guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer to shred on “Polluted Beauty.” Fellow Vermonter Kat Wright helped Twiddle close out the frame with a gorgeous cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”

Saturday’s second Twiddle set saw the band weave in and out of their original “Orlando’s.” The song’s lyrics feature mentions of characters from other tunes such as “Jamflowman,” “Hattibagen McRat,” “Frankie” (from “Frankenfoote”), “Tibby” (from “Tiberius”), “Carter” (fron “Carter Candlestick”) and “Old Cabbage” (from “Cabbage Face”). Guitarist Mihali Savoulidis, keyboardist Ryan Dempsey, drummer Brook Jordan and bassist Zdenek Gubb presented a seamless 75-minute set in which they moved from sections of “Orlando’s” to six of the originals referenced within.

Twiddle opened their third set on Saturday with an extended “Lost In The Cold” featuring Grahame Lesh of Midnight North & The Terrapin Family Band on guitar. From there, the foursome made their way through an adventurous “Apples” before bringing Grahame back for a “Hatti’s Jam” > “When It Rains It Pours” sequence that also included vocal contributions from Midnight North’s Elliott Peck.
