Twiddle & Aqueous Trade Sit-Ins In Buffalo

By Scott Bernstein Mar 6, 2017 8:39 am PST

On Saturday and Sunday nights, jam acts Twiddle and Aqueous came together at the Town Ballroom in Buffalo for a pair of sold-out shows. Each evening started out with a set from hometown heroes Aqueous followed by a pair of sets from Vermont quartet Twiddle. Collaborations abounded throughout the weekend.

Aqueous began the two-night stand on Saturday with a set that featured a debut cover of NWA’s “Express Yourself” featuring the band’s Evan McPhaden rapping, while Twiddle’s Zdenek Gubb held down the bottom end. Twiddle’s second set saw Aqueous guitarist Mike Gantzer add to “Latin Tang,” while both Gantzer and McPhaden added to the encore of Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters.”

On Sunday, Aqueous was joined by Twiddle drummer Brook Jordan on a cover of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.” Later in the night Gantzer added to Twiddle’s lengthy “Syncopated Healing” second set closer. Gantzer also helped out on the evening’s encore, a cover of “Karma Police” by Radiohead. The two bands come together again at the Colonial Theatre in Keene, New Hampshire on March 17.
