Turnstile started 2026 by bringing their The Never Enough Tour to Australia. The Baltimore band took time while Down Under to cover The Stone Roses classic, “I Wanna Be Adored,” for Australian public service radio station triple j’s “Like A Version” series.

“I love this song, it’s one of my favorite songs of all-time,” Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates told triple j. “It’s unconventional and simple and very beautiful.”

“And one of the most iconic bass lines of all-time. I think it’s so powerful in its simplicity,” added guitarist Meg Mills.

“It seems like a really fitting time,” Mills continued. “With the passing of [Stone Roses bassist] Mani, it felt like a really appropriate time to pay homage to him. Definitely as a Brit, Stone Roses were one of those bands that every kid that had any inkling towards anything alternative just knew from such an early age. [They were] such an iconic band and in my opinion, probably the coolest of any of the Manchester bands coming out at that time.”

The Stone Roses originally released “I Wanna Be Adored” as the opening track on their self-titled debut album in 1989. “I Wanna Be Adored” became one of the Manchester band’s signature songs.

Turnstile also performed their song “SUNSHOWER” for triple j in addition to the cover. The track is featured on the band’s 2025 album, Never Enough.

“We played ‘SUNSHOWER’ today as our original. We wanted to go in the opposite end of the spectrum from the cover. It’s been one of those songs that’s been coming to life in a cool way since we’ve been playing it live,” noted Yates.
