Turnpike Troubadours headlined the new Nashville venue The Pinnacle on Saturday night. The one-off, sold-out concert ended with surprise special guests Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show and Molly Tuttle joining the Oklahoma-based Americana band for a Turnpike Troubadours original and a cover of “Wagon Wheel.”
The 4,500-capacity Pinnacle opened on February 27 with a concert from Kacey Musgraves. Owned and operated by AEG, the room is located in the Nashville Yards development and takes inspiration from some of the company’s other halls including Denver’s Mission Ballroom and Roadrunner in Boston.

Turnpike Troubadours mixed material from each of the band’s studio albums besides their debut LP to form Saturday’s setlist. Seven songs from 2010’s Diamonds & Gasoline were played in Nashville along with five off 2017’s A Long Way From Your Heart, four from 2012’s Goodbye Normal Street and two a piece off A Cat In The Rain (2023) and The Turnpike Troubadours (2015).
Old Crow Medicine Show frontman Ketch Secor emerged on fiddle along with Molly Tuttle for Diamonds & Gasoline standout “Long Hot Summer Day,” the penultimate song of the night on Saturday. Tuttle was fresh off a Friday night guest appearance with Sierra Hull at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville.
Ketch Secor and Molly Tuttle also contributed to the evening’s “Wagon Wheel” finale. Secor handled lead vocals on Turnpike Troubadour’s first version of the OCMS favorite he based on a song sketch Bob Dylan originally recorded as “Rock Me, Mama” in 1973 during the Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid sessions. Tuttle sang harmony and played banjo. “Wagon Wheel” turned into a singalong thanks to the enthusiastic crowd. “I love those Troubadours!” Secor exclaimed towards the end of the song.
