TV On the Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe stopped by KEXP studios back in August to perform for the Seattle independent radio station. Adebimpe offered songs from his solo debut album Thee Black Boltz for the Live on KEXP session.

Tunde Adebimpe’s Thee Black Boltz arrived on April 18 via Sub Pop Records. The LP sees contributions from Adebimpe’s TV On The Radio bandmates Jaleel Bunton and Jahphet Landis.

“I’ve been doing this thing with this group of people for so long, that I can just have a vague sketch of a concept and I know Jaleel or [TVOTR guitarist] Kyp [Malone] will have five brilliant ideas on where it can go,” Tunde said of his creative process. “But for Thee Black Boltz, I didn’t have that scaffolding to hang on. That was both terrifying and exhilarating.”

Both Bunton and Landis joined Adebimpe for his Live on KEXP session along with Wilder Zoby. The music got underway with “Ate The Moon.” “Drop” and “God Knows” followed before the group wrapped the session with Thee Black Boltz single “Magnetic.”
