Trey Anastasio Shares Ghosts Of The Forest ‘Ruby Waves’ Video

In May, Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio unveiled a series of videos from his Ghosts Of The Forest tour that took place the previous month. After a few months off, Anastasio has continued to release pro-shot videos from the project’s lone tour by sharing “Ruby Waves” from April 13 at New York City’s United Palace Theatre.

Trey was backed in Ghosts Of The Forest by drummer Jon Fishman, bassist Tony Markellis, keyboardist Ray Paczkowski and vocalists Jennifer Hartswick and Celisse. Ghosts Of The Forest embarked on a tour of the Northeast that ended with a pair of shows at the United Palace Theatre before the band headed to California for concerts in Los Angeles and Berkeley.

“Ruby Waves” was the only song Ghosts Of The Forest performed that Trey had previously played before the tour. Anastasio led his Trey Anastasio Band outfit through “Ruby Waves” once on October 19, 2008 and then the tune seemingly disappeared. The guitarist released a studio version of the song on the Ghosts Of The Forest studio album and it was an improvisational highlight of all nine GOTF concerts. Then, Phish debuted a take on “Ruby Waves” on June 18 in Toronto. The final concert of Phish’s recent tour included a 38-minute version of the tune.

While Ghosts Of The Forest’s version from April 13 doesn’t quite span 38 minutes, the band covers plenty of ground over the course of nine minutes. Watch “Ruby Waves” from NYC below along with a playlist featuring all 14 Ghosts Of The Forest videos shared so far:
