The music festival landscape for the Boston area in 2022 has plenty to offer throughout the coming months. The New England region is ripe with events that cater to all kinds of music fans from single-day parties to multi-day blowouts.
Boston Calling has another stacked lineup for Memorial Day Weekend. In June, the Northlands Music & Arts Festival makes its debut in Swanzey, New Hampshire and the Mystic River Jam will fill the Mystic, Connecticut air with tunes. In July, Levitate Music & Arts Festival returns for three impressive days of music in Marshfield, Massachusetts.

Levitate Music & Arts Festival takes over the Marshfield Fairgrounds for three-days. Day 1 features moe., Old Crow Medicine Show and Vulfpeck; Day 2 has Phil Lesh & Friends, Umphrey’s McGee and Stick Figure; and Day 3 includes Jack Johnson, Dirty Heads and Donavon Frankenreiter, plus many additional performers.
Head up to Magic Mountain Ski Resort for Dead of Summer Music Festival. The one-day celebration will see music from Max Creek, Dead Man’s Waltz, Deadgrass, Rick Redington & The Luv and Rolling Thunder Revival – A Tribute to Bob Dylan.
The storied Newport Folk Festival returns to the picturesque Fort Adams State Park. The three-day event features a stacked and eclectic lineup including The National, Taj Mahal, John Moreland, Béla Fleck, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Courtney Barnett, Goose, beabadoobee, Bleachers, Clairo, Lucius, Natalie Merchant, Adia Victoria, Brandi Carlile, Mandy Moore, Maren Morris, Trampled by Turtles, Valerie June, Joy Oladokun and many more.
The famed Newport Jazz Festival is back for three days at the scenic Fort Adams State Park. The impressive lineup features Norah Jones, McBride’s Newport Jawn, Terence Blanchard, BadBadNotGood, Lettuce, Nate Smith + Kinfolk, Benevento/Russo Duo, The Fearless Flyers, Esperanza Spalding, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Cory Wong, Sons of Kemet, Angélique Kidjo, PJ Morton, Ron Carter, Nubya Garcia, Jazz is Dead, Mono Neon, The Soul Rebels, The Nth Power and many more.
SoulFest returns to Gunstock Mountain Resort one last time this year as the festival is moving in 2023. Billed as “New England’s Christian Music Festival,” the three-day event will see performances by For King & Country, We Are Messengers, Anne Wilson, Zach Williams, We The Kingdom, Gable Price, Skillet, Crowder, Colton Dixon and more.
Hosts Guster are bringing their On The Ocean festivities back to the State Theatre and Thompson’s Point. Josh Ritter opens up the weekend on Friday at the State Theatre ahead of an acoustic performance by Guster. On Saturday, Thompson’s Point will play host to performances by Guster, Shovels & Rope, Amythyst Kiah, Darlingside and Pete Kilpatrick. A “Camp Guster” event is also planned for Sunday at nearby Camp Winnebago.
The Terptown Throwdown takes over The Spencer Fairgrounds for two days. Set to perform at the music and arts festival are Matisyahu, Atmosphere, HIRIE, Ballyhoo!, Artikal Sound System, Little Stranger and more.
Beach Road Weekend is back at the beautiful Veterans Memorial Park on Martha’s Vineyard. The amazing lineup features Beck, Wilco, The Avett Brothers, Khruangbin, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Lord Huron, Billy Strings, Mt. Joy, Dawes, CAAMP, Lucy Dacus, Lettuce and many more.
The Ghost Of Paul Revere brings their Ghostland back to Thompson’s Point. The one-day event boasts a list of top-notch musicians and singer-songwriters including Hiss Golden Messenger, Marco Benevento and Golden Oak.
JamBase is proud to present As Summer Into Autumn Slips at Soundcheck Studios. The three-day event with an emphasis on collaboration will see favorites like Marco Benevento, The Slip and more teaming up as Surprise Me Mr. Davis along with headlining sets of their own. Guitarist William Tyler will also perform all three nights alongside additional sets from WOLF! featuring Scott Metzger and Club d’Elf.
Wormtown Trading presents StrangeCreek Campout 2022, a weekend of music and camping at Camp Kee-Wanee. Headliners Max Creek are joined on this year’s lineup by Dumpstaphunk, Spafford, The Machine, Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime, TAUK, Prince/Bowie, Consider The Source, Bella’s Bartok, West End Blend and dozens of other acts.
Boston Calling takes over Harvard Athletic Complex for three days of music. This year is the festival’s biggest event yet, featuring performances by Nine Inch Nails, The Stokes, Metallica, Rüfüs Du Sol, Weezer, HAIM, Run The Jewels, Glass Animals, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Avril Lavigne, Black Pumas, Modest Mouse, Celisse, Goose and others. Come hungry because the Food Lineup features more than 30 local vendors.
The inaugural two-day Northlands Music & Arts Festival brings a new event to New Hampshire’s Cheshire Fairgrounds in Swanzey. The first-time fest’s lineup features Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Lotus, Twiddle, Lettuce, Yonder Mountain String Band, Dopapod, Pink Talking Fish, lespecial, Blue Star Radiation, Hayley Jane & the Primates and more.
The 2022 Mystic River Jam takes over the Mystic Shipyard for two days of music. The lineup features Mystic Dead, Wooly Mammoth, The Troublemakers, Jamie Conroy, Jabbawaukee Fleet, The Hoolios and The CarLeans.
Head out to The Range for Granite Meltdown. The two-day event kicking off The Range summer concert series boasts performances by some of the Northeast’s premier national touring groups including Kung Fu, Cabinet, Neighbor, Club d’Elf and more. Come for the stellar sounds and stay for good eats, ice cream, a tiki bar and driving range.
Green River Festival celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. Returning to Franklin County Fairgrounds for three nights, performers over the weekend include Lake Street Dive, Father John Misty, Guster, Waxahatchee, Galactic, Hiss Golden Messenger, Allison Russell and more. The event also plays host to The Makers Market featuring handmade juried crafts, an assortment of kid’s activities, local food and beverage options.
Coming to the Chelsea Parade for one day only, the Rose Arts Festival packs in a weekend’s worth of music. Set to perform are Dustbowl Revival, The Suffers, Bella’s Bartok, Mikaela Davis, Julie Rhodes, Ali McGuirk, Nick Bosse, The Mary Jane Jones, I Anbassa, Erin Harpe, Jake Kulak, Canopy, The Penniless Wild and many more.
