Tool continued their 2022 tour at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center on Saturday night. Vocalist Maynard James Keenan and company unveiled “Culling Voices” during the three song encore.

Maynard, guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Justin Chancellor and drummer Danny Carey opened the show with the title track to their 2019 album Fear Inoculum ahead of the classic “Opiate,” which saw the band wishing Jones a happy birthday as the guitarist turned 57 yesterday. Following 10,000 Days’ (2006) “The Pot,” Tool performed “Pushit” from 1996’s Ænima.

Fear Inoculum’s “Pneuma” came next before the band’s 2001 album Lateralus was represented with “The Grudge.” 10,000 Days’ “Right In Two” and Fear Inoculum’s “Descending” followed before the quartet closed out the main set with Ænima track “Hooker With A Penis.”

Tool then dedicated the entire three-song encore to Fear Inoculum beginning with “Chocolate Chip Trip” ahead of the aforementioned debut of “Culling Voices,” which began with the entire band seated at the front of the stage including Carey on guitar as Maynard led the band through the initial verses. Tool then took their usual positions for the heavier conclusion of “Culling Voices” before wrapping up the show with “Invincible.”
