This year’s Holidaze destination event continued on Thursday with performances from Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Lotus, STS9, The Disco Biscuits and Orchard Lounge. The Disco Biscuits were aided by guitarist Tom Hamilton for their entire set at Now Sapphire & Dreams in Puerto Morelos, Mexico.
Holidaze 2018’s second day started with a poolside set from Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Then, Lotus and STS9 each performed on the main stage. High winds led organizers to move the remainder of the sets planned for the main stage to the indoor Palapa. Jamtronica quartet the Disco Biscuits and Tom Hamilton opened with a cover of JJ Cale’s “After Midnight” they jammed into an inverted “Confrontation.” The seamless beginning to the set continued with a take on “Exodus” by Bob Marley, which hadn’t been played by the Biscuits since 2017. Next up was a debut cover of John Lennon’s “Watching The Wheels” before the five-piece brought the set to a close with “Echoes” by Pink Floyd. The Disco Biscuits last played “Echoes” way back on January 25, 2013 in Denver.
Umphrey’s delivered a career-spanning collection of originals for their first performance of Holidaze ’18. Included within was just the second “The Fuzz” of the year. The event rolls on today with sets from Ghost Light, UM, STS9 and Lotus. Check out photos from Thursday at Holidaze captured by Josh Timmermans:
