Multi-hyphenate Tim Heidecker announced details of a new album entitled Slipping Away due on October 18 via Bloodshot Records. The comedian/actor/singer-songwriter shared the LP’s lead single and opening track, “Well’s Running Dry,” along with an accompanying video shot and edited by Nick Weidner.
Tim Heidecker enlisted his ensemble, The Very Good Band, to back him on the follow-up to 2022’s High School. The group features Eliana Athayde on bass, vocals and additional production; Josh Adams on drums; Vic Berger on keys and Connor “Catfish” Gallaher on guitar and pedal steel. Additionally, Tim’s daughter Amelia contributed to Slipping Away.

While High School was more of a solo effort, Heidecker feels the forthcoming LP is a “true group project,” which was crucial to developing his songs. “My favorite records are the ones that were just recorded in a room with a band playing,” Heidecker said in noting albums from Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and The Band. “And that’s what we did.”
Tim Heidecker is really happy with how Slipping Away turned out and considers the album a “personal breakthrough” in his work. “Having been doing quote-unquote ‘entertainment’ for 20 years now in different forms, it was a revitalizing experience to be out of my comfort zone a little bit. It was a learning opportunity,” Heidecker added.
Eliana Athayde and Tim Heidecker shared lead vocal duties on several tracks featured on the upcoming record. “Well’s Running Dry” is one of those songs. “As soon as I wrote that, I worried that it’s not cool to talk about,” Heidecker said of a cut that finds him looking back at vulnerable moments in the songwriting process. “But a second later, I thought—well that’s challenging and exciting. Let’s push past that.”
