Bassist Thundercat has detailed his upcoming new album Drunk which is due out on February 24 via Brainfeeder. Thundercat enlisted the help of several special guests on the new record, including the lead single “Show You The Way” featuring Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins.
The 23-track Drunk follows up the 2015 mini-album The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam. Other guests on the new LP include Kamasi Washington, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Wiz Khalifa and Brainfeeder’s founder Flying Lotus.
McDonald and Thundercat collaborated together last year at the Hollywood Bowl, but it was Loggins’ suggestion to bring him on the track “Show You The Way.”
“These are guys that I’ve listened to and where I felt that I’ve learned that honesty in the music,” said Thundercat about McDonald and Loggins. “Kenny Loggins is one of my favorite songwriters. I think one of the most beautiful moments of it was realizing how amazing Michael McDonald was. He would go through so many ideas and have so much to offer.”
