Less than nine months before Levon Helm lost his battle with cancer, he played one of his last festival sets at Gathering Of The Vibes in Bridgeport, CT on July 22, 2011. The Levon Helm Band’s memorable performance at the festival featured guest spots from Bob Weir, Joe Russo and Cindy Cashdollar.

While Levon’s voice was not in good shape, the many singers within his band -including his pregnant (at the time) daughter Amy -helped cover some of the legendary The Band drummer’s vocal parts. Russo and Cashdollar came out for a rendition of “Evangeline” that saw Levon play mandolin. Then, Weir emerged to join the Levon Helm Band, Russo and Cashdollar on “Deep Elem Blues.” Watch pro-shot footage of “Deep Elem”:

Bobby then stuck around for a tender rendition of “Attics Of My Life” featuring Larry Campbell, Amy Helm and Teresa Williams. Here’s fan-shot footage of “Attics”:

Levon’s set at Vibes in 2011 ended the way most of his performances did…with “The Weight.” Cashdollar and Russo helped out on the band’s finale. Take a look at pro-shot footage of “The Weight”:
