Throwback Thursday | Phish Jams On Llama With Bela Fleck

UPDATE 2/27 12:30 p.m. PT: Kudos to Jon Schroeder for adding audio of “Llama” we featured below to footage of the llamas on the loose:

The big news story of the moment is that llamas are on the loose in Sun City, Arizona. If you’re like us, the first thing that comes to your mind when someone mentions llamas is the Phish song of the same name off 1992’s A Picture Of Nectar album.

With that in mind and in honor of the low-speed llama chase we want to devote today’s Throwback Thursday post to one of our favorite versions of “Llama.” On October 18 , 1994 Phish was joined by special guest Bela Fleck for a portion of second set. Bela played with Phish in an acoustic format until the set-closer, when the Vermonters and their guest transitioned from acoustic instruments to electric during “Llama.”

Take a listen:

Here’s hoping the llamas in Arizona are led to safety soon.
