The Lil Smokies Announce New Album ‘Live At The Bluebird’

By Scott Bernstein May 8, 2019 11:52 am PDT

Montana string band The Lil Smokies will issue a live album entitled Live At The Bluebird via What Are Records on June 7. The 12-track record features guest appearances from Paul Hoffman and Anders Beck of Greensky Bluegrass as well as Fruition‘s Jay Cobb Anderson.

Produced by Rob Gordon, the LP was recorded live at the Bluebird Theater in Denver between November 29 – December 1. Hoffman adds vocals and mandolin to a cover of Dawes’ “When My Time Comes,” while Beck and Anderson collaborate with The Smokies on “Gone At Last” by Paul Simon. “We’ve been grinding really hard for the last few years,” said lead singer and dobro player Andy Dunnigan. “This live album really captures the spirit and culmination of an immeasurable amount of growing, learning and distilling on stage. Unbridled songs from the previous albums, special guests and a couple surprises await your ears. This is our way of thanking you all for coming out and creating the space for us to create in every night.”
