The Hold Steady Announce Summer Tour; Single Out May 20

Brooklyn-based rockers The Hold Steady have confirmed a string of tour dates this summer, starting June 8 and going through August 13. Pre-sale will begin on May 16 at 10 a.m. local time, ending May 19 at 10 p.m. local time. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, May 20. Their new album, Stay Positive, will be released on Vagrant Records on July 15.

The first single from that album, “Sequestered in Memphis,” will be available on iTunes on May 20.

The songs on Stay Positive came together on the road while the band was touring the world behind 2006’s breakthrough Boys and Girls in America, a run that found the band playing well over 200 shows in 2007 alone. The tracks on Stay Positive find the band growing more musically complex, experimenting with instruments like harpsichord, banjo, and talk box.
