Florida-based “tropical indie pop” act The Hip Abduction is gearing up for a big 2016. The band, who place heavy emphasis on African stringed instruments (kora, ngoni) mixed with dub-reggae bass lines and funky afro-beat percussion, will release their sophomore studio album and will tour in support of the LP.
The Hip Abduction will release Gold Under The Glow on March 11. The album is said to capture the high-energy of the band’s signature sound but with an added indie rock twist. Gold Under The Glow was recorded in Nashville this past summer and produced by Dabney Morris (Wild Cub). Look for the album’s first single, “Before We Lose Our Minds,” to drop next month.

Early 2016 will feature a mix of headlining dates and appearances in support of Zach Deputy and The Expendables. The year starts with a batch of support gigs down south, before the headlining dates begin with an appearance at The Hall @ MP in Brooklyn on March 4. From there, the band plays shows in Delaware, Washington DC, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and their home stage of Florida in March.
