The Disco Biscuits Continue Chicago Run: Pro-Shot Full Show Video
The Disco Biscuits continued their three-night affair at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago on Friday night. The show contained some 2019 rarities as well as the first inverted version of new song “Running Into The Night.”
“House Dog Party Favor” got the evening started. The sometimes flighty, sometimes frantic, always driving amalgamation of a tune — keyboardist Aron Magner even throws in some honky-tonk piano for good measure with drummer Allen Aucoin holding everything together — saw guitarist Jon Gutwillig playing his green Fender Stratocaster and leading the vocal charge before the song built to its triumphant crescendo. Leaving “HDPF” standalone, “Konkrete” came next after making only one appearance at a tDB show in 2019. The January 3 Chicago version marked just the sixth time the Planet Anthem song got called up. The classic “Shem-Rah-Boo” followed which then segued into new song “Freebis Slinky,” debuted during the tour opening run in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. After only playing the song three times in 2019, tDB got an early start on “Save The Robots” to close out the first frame.
The second set kicked off with the electronica of “42” that saw Barber switching to his Gibson hollow body and Brownie having a blast, smiling and giving a Michael Jordan-esque tongue wag, perhaps a nod to the home of the Chicago Bulls. “Running Into The Night” came next for just the second time since tDB debuted it on December 27 during the first night of their NYE run at the PlayStation Theatre in New York City. Bisco also wasted no time in giving the tune its first inverted treatment as they headed into the middle section of “Digital Buddha” ahead of a “Tractorbeam Jam” that segued into “The Champions” and “Gangster.” Both “Champions” and “Gangster” only made two tDB appearances in 2019 with “Champions” making just its 16th voyage overall. Bisco returned to the ending segment of “Buddha” to close out the second set.
The Disco Biscuits came back out for the encore, the 2019 rarity “I Remember When,” a song they last played in May during their Bisco Inferno run in Denver. Check out pro-shot full show video below:
