In April, The Black Keys announced the International Players Tour, which was slated to take place at arenas across North America this fall. Guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney addressed the cancellation of the 31-date tour set to begin in mid-September while promising new tour dates soon.
According to the statement from The Black Keys, recent experience on tour in Europe playing smaller theaters influenced the decision to alter the North American leg. The International Players Tour is being reconfigured to “offer a similarly exciting, intimate experience for both fans and the band,” in North America.
Tickets to the initial tour dates will be refunded and those who purchased tickets will have first access to buy tickets when new dates are confirmed.

The Black Keys did not address The Head and the Heart who were on board to support the bulk of the tour. Text of the statement from The Black Keys follows:
The band wants to assure everyone that Dan & Patrick are alive and well.
Following the recent run of shows in the UK & Europe, including stops at iconic venues like Brixton Academy and the Zenith in Paris, we have decided to make some changes to the North American leg of the International Players Tour that will enable us to offer a similarly exciting, intimate experience for both fans and the band, and will be announcing a revised set of dates shortly.
Everyone who had purchased tickets and/or VIP to the initial tour dates will be fully refunded – and when the new plans are announced, will be the first to be able to buy tickets.
Thank you for your understanding and apologies for the surprise change… We’re pretty sure everyone is going to be excited when you see what we have in mind though, and look forward to seeing everyone soon.

The Black Keys recently released their guest-filled new album, Ohio Players. The Black Keys’ 12th studio album, Ohio Players featured contributions from Beck, Dan the Automator, Greg Kurstin, Juicy J and Lil Noid, among others, including Noel Gallagher who joined the band on the song he co-wrote at their London tour stop.
