THE BEACH BOYS CONFIRM ALBUM RELEASE DATE;
FIRST SINGLE ‘THAT’S WHY GOD MADE THE RADIO’

The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys are set to release their brand new studio album on June 5, according to the promo video below. The as-yet-untitled record is the first to feature all surviving members since 1996’s Stars and Stripes Vol. 1.

In an interview with Billboard, beach boy Bruce Johnston describes the music on the album as “all brand new” and says it “reminds me of our ‘Sunflower’ album, which is probably one of our least-selling albums, and some of the songs there are stunning. This album has elements, kind of, of everything. And we don’t have EMI, Capitol, acting like they did when I joined the band just so paranoid — ‘We gotta have hits! We gotta have hits! Come on, is that a hit?!,’ just coming to the sessions and torturing you. It wasn’t like that this time. They’ve listened to the stuff and go, ‘Wow, that’s pretty nice.'”

Added Johnston, “There’s a lot of what you’d hope to hear from Brian [Wilson] on there. It’s not a quilt or a pot luck dinner, it’s not like, ‘OK, everybody show up with your songs.’ It’s not one of those kind of albums.”

Check out the official promo video below, which confirms the album release date and teases the first single from the album, “That’s Why God Made The Radio”. Click here for all upcoming tour dates.
