The Arcs spread “Sunshine” with the last pre-release single from their forthcoming studio album, Electrophonic Chronic. The 12-track LP, the group’s first album in eight years, arrives on January 27 via lead vocalist Dan Auerbach‘s Easy Eye Sound label.
Recorded by Auerbach and the rest of the original The Arcs lineup of Leon Michels, Richard Swift, Nick Movshon and Homer Steinweiss, Electrophonic Chronic comes in tribute to Swift, who tragically passed away in 2018. Richard Swift co-wrote “Sunshine” before he died and contributed background vocals and percussion to the track.
The follow-up to The Arcs’ 2015 debut album, Yours, Dreamily, was co-produced by Dan Auerbach and Leon Michels. The pair revisited material “recorded over the years” during the pandemic following a period of grief after Swift’s death. “I think all of us couldn’t really listen to the music, couldn’t really face it and try to finish it,” Michels explained in press materials. “This new record is all about honoring Swift,” added Auerbach. “It’s a way for us to say goodbye to him.”
Electrophonic Chronic was previously previewed with album cuts “Keep On Dreamin'” and “Heaven Is A Place.” Stream “Sunshine” below:
