Temples released a new single/video, “Afterlife.” The track is set for the British psych-rockers’ upcoming Sean Ono Lennon-produced album, Exotico, due out on April 14 via ATO Records.

Along with Lennon at the helm, Grammy-winner Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, MGMT) mixed Exotico. Temples foreshadowed the new record in September 2022 with the Sean Ono Lennon-produced non-album single “Paraphernalia.” The official Exotico announcement arrived in early 2023 along with the preview “Gamma Rays.” The quartet followed with “Cicada” in February and now share “Afterlife.”

“‘Afterlife’ reflects on long distance relationships and how love and isolation often can find themselves next to one another,” lead singer/guitarist James Bagshaw said of the new track. “You might feel lonely but you’re never alone. Seeing a light in the distance gives you the hope to know you’ll meet again.”

“As we were putting the tracklist together we envisioned a jet or spaceship arriving on the island and then some sort of journey across this imagined place,” bassist Thomas Walmsley added. “By the second half of the record we’re moving into twilight, and ‘Afterlife’ is definitely one of the evening tracks.”
