Georgia rockers Widespread Panic continued their Spring Tour last night with a performance at Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama. The evening began with a set by openers Tedeschi Trucks Band and concluded with members of TTB joining WSP for a collaborative multi-song encore.
Panic’s one set performance began with frontman John Bell on mandolin for a take on “Ain’t Life Grand.” The rest of the show saw Widespread Panic deliver highlights such as “Proving Ground” > “Bust It Big,” a jammed-out “Airplane” and a drums-filled “Papa’s Home” > Blackout Blues.”

For WSP’s encore, they brought with them guitarist Derek Trucks to join in on a performance of “Gimme” which moved into “Surprise Valley.” The collective was then joined by guitarist/vocalist Susan Tedeschi for a rendition of the WSP setlist staple “Me And The Devil Blues.” Not yet done with the show, or adding special guests, Panic then welcomed TTB vocalists Alecia Chakour and Mark Rivers to help out on a show-closing cover of The Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”
Tedeschi Trucks Band will appear tonight at the famed Dockery Farms for a special show at the historic site near Cleveland, Mississippi. Widespread Panic heads to Knoxville, Tennessee for a pair of shows at the Tennessee Theatre beginning tomorrow night.
