Taylor Swift Takes Over The 1975 Show In London, Performs ‘Anti-Hero’ Live Debut

If you attend a concert by The 1975, there is a good chance someone will drop in to play a mini-set in the middle of the show. Taylor Swift is the latest surprise special guest to take over one of their performances and she delivered the live debut of her hit single “Anti-Hero” on Thursday at The O2 Arena in London.

Swift’s unannounced appearance followed similar takeovers by Phoebe Bridgers and Jack Antonoff at recent U.S. stops on The 1975’s At Their Very Best Tour. Antonoff co-produced Swift’s 2022 album, Midnights and The 1975’s 2022 album, Being Funny In A Foreign Language, which was played in its entirety ahead of Swift’s mini-set.

“I was thinking of doing one that I’ve never played live before,” Swift said upon taking the stage. “It would be so presumptuous to say ‘if you know it, sing it’ but if you do …”

Swfit then premiered “Anti-Hero,” which served as the Midgnights‘ lead single and instantly became a world-wide sensation. The song broke streaming records on Spotify and became Swift’s ninth #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. Swift followed her first public performance of “Anti-Hero” with a cover of The 1975’s “The City” from their 2013 self-titled debut album.
