Tame Impala premiered “My Old Ways” and performed two other tracks off the new album Deadbeat on A24’s new performance series Sound Check at Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City.
The historic Off-Broadway theatre hosted the first Sound Check at Cherry Lane with a performance from Mark William Lewis, A24’s first signed artist. Tame Impala is the second artist to perform for the series.
The session kicked off with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker leading the band through Deadbeat opener “My Old Ways,” marking the song’s live debut. The Tame Impala live band — Dominic Simper, Jay Watson, James Ireland, Julien Barbagallo and Cameron Avery — also offered album version premieres of Deadbeat singles “Dracula” and “Loser.” While the band performed the songs acoustically on Tiny Desk Concert, the Cherry Lane session marked the first time the band presented the songs in their full form.
