SunSquabi released the new single “The Hornet.” The track is the third taste of the Colorado-based livetronica trio’s forthcoming album, Arise.

Arise, the third full-length SunSquabi studio album and first since 2019’s Instinct, is due out on October 26. The band — Kevin Donohue (guitar, keyboards, production), Josh Fairman (bass, synth) and Chris Anderson (drums) — prepped the 11-track LP when the pandemic brought about a pause in live music. “Since we’ve all been put down very hard for the past two years, the entire world has felt this pressure, sadness, and struggle,” explained Donohue. “So we tried to relay a message of arising from the ashes and becoming something new. This album shows how we’re able to do so during a really tough time.”

“The Hornet” comes on the heels of previously released Arise singles “Elephant Song” featuring Big Gigantic's Dominic Lalli and “Scorpion.”

“The song is all about adrenaline, survival, and intensity,” noted Donohue of the latest SunSquabi single. He recalled an experience that inspired the track, adding “I woke up one morning with a hornet in my bed, and it stung me numerous times. My whole left butt cheek was completely swollen, and I had hornet venom running through my veins. We captured the feeling well in this song!”
