Colorado jam stalwarts The String Cheese Incident are the host band of Suwannee Hulaween at The Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida; which runs throughout the weekend. SCI took the main stage for their first two sets of Hulaween ’17 on Friday.

The String Cheese Incident kicked off their first of seven sets at Hulaween ’17 with a run of “Colorado Bluebird Sky,” “Search” and “Valley Of The Jig.” SCI’s opening performance continued with an adventurous “These Waves” > “Djibouti Bump” > “Rhythm Of The Road” > “Sirens” sequence. The six-piece closed out the frame with “(Nothing But) Flowers,” a Talking Heads cover they debuted during last year’s New Year’s Run which has become a staple in 2017.

Cheese began their second and final set of Friday with the ever funky “Howard” and then delivered the improvisational highlight of the night, a “Close Your Eyes” > “Black Clouds” pairing that spanned nearly 30 minutes. Recent original “Sweet Spot” followed along with Bill Nershi’s “Wake Up.” Up next were “Way Back Home” and “Beautiful.” The String Cheese Incident then brought up members of Beats Antique including a dancer for the debut of “Egyptic,” a fan-favorite from the Oakland-based world music act that has long been part of Beats Antique’s repertiore. “Egyptic” was a debut for SCI.

All three sets from SCI including their “Night Of The Loving Dead” themed performance can be streamed live on Saturday via nugs.tv and SiriusXM.
