The String Cheese Incident dug into their archives to unearth previously unreleased audio of their February 16, 1999 concert at Art Factory in Telluride, Colorado. SCI previewed the full show, which will be available on Bandcamp starting tomorrow, Friday, August 7 by sharing a guest-filled cover of “The Chicken” from the concert.
Pee Wee Ellis wrote “The Chicken,” which was originally released as the B-side to James Brown’s 1968 single, “The Popcorn.” The String Cheese Incident debuted their version of the instrumental on February 22, 1998 in Durango, Colorado as per Phantasy Tour. Cheese went on to perform “The Chicken” 19 more times with the most recent play taking place at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado on December 29, 2013.
