On Thursday night, Colorado’s The String Cheese Incident continued Spring Tour with their second of two tour-opening performances at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota. SCI opened with just the second “Black And White” since August and then performed fan-favorite Weather Report cover “Birdland.” The year’s first “Yo Se” led into one of the group’s newest songs, “My One & Only,” off the soon-to-be-released studio album Believe. Cheese ended Thursday’s first set with a “Best Feeling” > “Exodus” (Bob Marley) > “Best Feeling” sequence and “BollyMunster.”
Last night’s second set began with recently-added repertoire staples “Stop Drop Roll” and “Hi Ho No Show” as well as a cover of “Purple Strains” by Onus B. Johnson that was first played by the band last month. “Song In My Head” was followed by a trio of classics: “It Is What It Is,” “Sirens” and “Restless Wind.” SCI ended the evening with a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Boogie On Reggae Woman” in the encore slot. The String Cheese Incident gave fans a free audio webcast of the tour-opening run in St. Paul via Mixlr. Cheese provided similar audio streams for most early 2017 shows and it appears the trend will continue this tour. JamBase contributor Tim McGuire captured the action in St. Paul on Thursday and has shared a gallery of photos:
