Legendary singer-songwriter J.J. Cale passed away on Friday night after suffering a heart attack. Musical tributes poured in from across the globe yesterday and we wanted to make note of four in particular.

Colorado jam stalwarts String Cheese Incident closed out a two-night stand at Red Rocks last night, where they welcomed special guest Anders Osborne for an “After Midnight” > “Outside and Inside” first encore. Watch pro-shot footage of the segment:

Up at The Gorge, Phish ended their first set with their own take on “After Midnight.” Here’s a clip from YouTube:

Finally, John Mayer took a moment out of his show at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA to acknowledge Cale’s passing before covering “Call Me The Breeze.” Take a look at fan-shot footage of the cover:

UPDATE -7/28 1 p.m. PT: Warren Haynes and Gov’t Mule also paid tribute to J.J. Cale with an “After Midnight” encore at Gathering of the Vibes. Mule was joined by George Porter Jr., Bill Evans and John Scofield for the fantastic cover. Thanks to Z-Man for this audience recording:
