Sting Premieres New Police-esque Single ‘I Can’t Stop Thinking About You’

For those of us waiting for Sting to return to his roots as a rocker, that time is now. Sting’s 57th & 9th is due out November 11 via Cherrytree/Interscope Records and is billed as his first rock/pop record in decades. Today, a new single from the LP titled “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You” was released and it’s not just the title that sounds like a Police song.

“I Can’t Stop Thinking About You” has a hard-nosed edge that has been missing from Sting’s music for a long time and has us excited about the 10-track effort. Produced by Sting’s manager Martin Kierszenbaum, the bulk of the new material has been recorded by drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and guitarist Dominic Miller of Sting’s touring band as well as members of the Kierszenbaum-represented San Antonio-based Last Bandoleros, bassist Diego Navaira and guitarist Jerry Fuentes. The 64-year-old Sting says the new album focuses on issues related to emigrating and mortality, with the song “50,000” having been written in the days following Prince’s unexpected death.
