In less than a week Steely Dan kicks off a Summer Tour with Steve Winwood, but the legendary jazz-rock act is already looking towards the fall. Today, Steely Dan has announced 10 shows at the Beacon Theatre in New York City marking their fifth such residency at the venue. Each performance has a different theme or special guest.
The residency begins on October 12 when Steely Dan will perform their Royal Scam album in its entirety. Singer-songwriter Rickie Lee Jones will join the Dan as their special guest on October 14, 15, 25 and 26. Other shows in the series finds Steely Dan playing each tune from Aja (October 18), Gaucho (October 22) and Countdown To Ecstasy (October 28) as well as a night dubbed “By Popular Demand” (October 19) and the run-closing “Greatest Hits” theme (October 29). Each full album performance will also feature other songs. Steely Dan has performed each album they will play this October in its entirety in the past with the exception of 1973’s Countdown To Ecstasy.
