St. Vincent released her latest studio album, Masseduction, last year on Loma Vista Recordings. Guitarist Annie Clark demonstrates some of the riffs that appear on tracks on the record as well as “life-changing” riffs that have influenced her and more during a Q&A session held for BBC Radio 6.

Clark shares that the guitar riff she learned first was a toss-up between both Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Jethro Tull’s “Aqualung.” Clark also mentions songs from The Breeders, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Tool and Pantera, along with detailing the guitar riff that she most proud of writing.
