Watch Spoon Perform Majestic ‘My Babe’ By Request On ‘Austin City Limits’

Hometown heroes Spoon return to Austin City Limits this weekend for an episode premiering on Saturday, February 16. Preview the band’s full hour on the beloved live music television program by watching the exclusive premiere of Spoon’s “My Babe” performance from the October 2022 taping below.

This Saturday’s penultimate episode of Season 48 marks the fifth appearance for Spoon on Austin City Limits since their 2003 debut on the program. Frontman Britt Daniel and bandmates Jim Eno (drums), Alex Fischel (keyboards, guitar), Ben Trokan (bass, keyboards) and Gerardo Larios (guitar, vocals) went heavy on material from 2022’s Lucifer On The Sofa at the Moody Theater for their 13-song ACL performance. Spoon also looked to 1998’s A Series Of Sneaks for “Utilitarian,” 2010’s Transference for “Got Nuffin,” 2007’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga for “The Underdog” and closed with “Rent I Pay” from 2014’s They Want My Soul.

“My Babe” is an emotion-laden standout from Lucifer On The Sofa. “What’cha all want to hear?” Daniel queries the crowd and multiple fans can be heard screaming for the song. Britt and his bandmates turned in a passionate performance of the tune. Watch the resulting version below:
