Spoon Covers The Beatles’ ‘Christmas Time (Is Here Again)’

Spoon covered The Beatles’ “Christmas Time (Is Here Again)” for this year’s Spotify Singles: Holiday Playlist. The song is one of several included in the collection marking its fifth year of holiday recordings.

In addition to Spoon’s contribution, this year’s Spotify Singles: Holiday Playlist features covers recorded by musicians from around the world including Nao, Ashnikko, jxdn, Caylee Hammack, Chandler Moore, MisterWives, Surfaces, El Alfa, Alexandra Streliski, LOVA and Lee Hi. Spoon’s version of The Beatles’ 1967 fan club single was recorded with longtime collaborator Jim Eno at his Public HiFi studio in Austin.

“Recording ‘Christmas Time (Is Here Again)’ was a group effort that pulled us away from rehearsals and quickly sent us down a turbulent path of what you might call the Christmas spirit,” Spoon frontman Britt Daniel stated. “And it’s our song with the most band members doing vocals ever – pretty sure I’m counting four. THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS IS OVER.”
