Space Armadillo dropped a new single entitled “White Sugar.” Co-frontmen Phish lyricist Steve “Dude Of Life” Pollak and guitarist Andy Greenberg co-wrote the tune.
The Dude Of Life and Andy Greenberg are joined in Space Armadillo by keyboardists Nolan Tacklenburg, bassist Ben Mossman (Little Bird) and drummer Stuart White. “White Sugar” comes on the heels of the band’s reworked “Sanity” single.

Space Armadillo are prepping their debut album with producer Matt Zutell at Coast Records in Charleston, South Carolina. In addition to “Sanity,” the quintet previously shared the original “Visitors Center.”
“The song White Sugar was written based on a beautiful middle aged bad ass superhero that Andy and I created,” explained the Dude Of Life. “She comes across as a much hipper modern version of Wonder Woman, with her silver & blue hair and a gleaming blue cape flying into contentious situations coast to coast! Effectively, creatively and humorously she resolves issues wherever she goes! She has a heart of gold and will do anything for her family & friends but get her mad or hurt anyone and you will regret messing with her. She is a force to be reckoned with.”
“I felt it was a musical response to the Rolling Stones’ Brown Sugar. A contrast piece,” added Andy Greenberg. “I think we were trying to summon a new take from many decades in the past and make it current. [Doom Flamingo’s] Ross Bogan’s synth licks elevated it to an innovative paradigm. While similar to late 90s British alternative rock it instantly was far more proggy. This lends an original slant in modern aesthetics. While forward looking, the song is very simple and based on historical resonance. It feels like a smooth way to walk the rock narrative forward.”
