Snarky Puppy Plays Tasty Tune ‘Pineapple’ Live In Studio

Snarky Puppy shared a live performance video for their song “Pineapple.” The track appears on the genre-blending outfit’s Grammy-nominated 2022 album, Empire Central.

Empire Central is an homage to Dallas, the city that fostered the band in its formative years after forming at the University Of North Texas’ prestigious music program. The collective led by Michael League captured the record live at Deep Ellum Art Company in Dallas. Snarky Puppy released advance Empire Central singles/videos “Trinity,” “Bet,” “Belmont” and more.

The band now shares a video for “Pineapple,” which is “an upbeat dance track with a groove smack dab in the middle of house and new jack swing,” trumpeter and the song’s co-writer Mike “Maz” Maher noted. “Blistering improvisations propel the tune forward without departing from the fun danceability of the song.”
