‘Bee Yourself’: Sierra Ferrell Puts Her Spin On ‘No Rain’ Cover In Oklahoma City

Sierra Ferrell took the stage last night for her concert at The Criterion in Oklahoma City dressed as a bee. The fashion choice made sense towards the end of the night when Ferrell led her band through a debut cover of Blind Melon's “No Rain.”

The Tuesday night concert in Oklahoma City was part of Sierra’s recently resumed Shoot The Moon Tour. Ferrell kicked off the trek with her triumphant return to the Stagecoach festival and has been performing headlining shows at theaters in between dates supporting Post Malone and Jelly Roll at massive stadiums.

Sierra Ferrell loaded the 23-song setlist with tracks from her Grammy-winning 2024 album Trail Of Flowers, including the “I Could Drive You Crazy Opener” along with “American Dreaming,” “Dollar Bill Bar,” “Fox Hunt” and four others. The West Virginia-bred singer-songwriter also treated fans to six songs from 2021’s Long Time Coming with “Far Away Across The Sea,” “Give It Time,” “Why’d Ya Do It” and the “In Dreams” finale among them.

Late in the show, Ferrell led the audience in a chant of “I love you!” before asking the crowd to snap their fingers as the band struck up “No Rain.” Sierra powerfully channeled Shannon Hoon’s vocals on her first version of Blind Melon’s breakthrough hit.

Fans not only snapped their fingers but sang along to the 1993 smash. Blind Melon released an instant classic video for “No Rain,” which starred Heather DeLoach as the “Bee Girl.” Sierra Ferrell referenced the “Bee Girl” in both her attire and by telling the crowd, “Bee yourself” at the end of the cover debut.

“We vibrate at our highest when we are our true authentic self,” Ferrell added. Longtime band member Oliver Bates Craven shined on electric guitar throughout “No Rain.”
