She & Him released a cover of The Beach Boys’ “Don’t Worry Baby.” The song will appear on the duo of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward’s forthcoming album, Melt Away: A Tribute to Brian Wilson, due out on July 22 via Fantasy Records.

She & Him began the Melt Away: A Tribute to Brian Wilson rollout in May with The Beach Boys’ 1967 hit single “Darlin.’” The Pet Sounds opener “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” followed ahead of “Til I Die” off 1971’s Surf’s Up.

Ward and Deschanel now offer their version of the 1964 Beach Boys classic “Don’t Worry Baby,” a song Brian often points to as the groundbreaking band’s best work. She & Him agree:

“Don’t Worry Baby” is one of the greatest songs of all time. As with all the other songs on our tribute record, we had no interest in copycatting the original production – our version began with stripping the song down to just vocals and a drop-tuned acoustic guitar and building from there. The inspiration for our version comes from a lot of different places but the biggest ones would be some of Chet Atkins guitar ideas, some drum ideas from Mick Fleetwood, and some synth inventions by Dave Smith (RIP).”
