Shakori Hill Grassroots Festival :: 04.17.08 – 04.20.08 :: Silk Hope, NC

Each spring as the sun awakens and the flowers start to bloom, music men and festive females gather in the woods of central Carolina to commune, commingle and cavort at the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music and Dance. For four days the stages come alive with music and dance from across the globe in one of the first festival of the season, as the cobwebs of winter are discarded for the promise of sunny days ahead.

Now celebrating ten successful festivals, Shakori Hills offered a relaxed and comfortable weekend overflowing with vibrancy and new musical discoveries. JamBase brings you this photo essay from a collection of photographers who took part in the weekend. Shakori Hills occurs every 6 months, so keep an eye out for the fall festival.
