Stereogum Extends ‘Save Stereogum’ Campaign

The team behind online music publication Stereogum recently launched the Save Stereogum campaign in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a huge decrease in the site’s advertising revenue. Contributors to the Save Stereogum crowdfunding campaign, now extended until August 28, will receive perks including a compilation of new, never-before-heard covers of songs from the 2000s recorded by the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Dirty Projectors, Lucy Dacus, Ryley Walker and Waxahatchee.

Stereogum’s co-founders purchased the site from its former parent company earlier this year and were in the process of diversifying revenue streams when the pandemic hit. The Save Stereogum: An ’00s Covers Comp will feature over 50 tracks and now supporters have the option to download lossless WAV files of the forthcoming set in addition to MP3s. A mid-September release is expected.

Additionally, Stereogum put together an interactive mini-fest/Zoom Party for those who donate at the VIP level. Ezra Koenig, DIIV, Low, Alex Lahey, Amber Mark, Whitney, Lydia Loveless and Gordi are among those recording performances for the event.
