Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sasha Dobson focuses on jazz with Girl Talk, a new studio album set for release on September 10. Dobson previewed the 10-track LP with lead single “The Great City” and its accompanying video.

Sasha is joined on Girl Talk by a core band featuring bassist Neal Miner, Dred Scott and Kenny Wollesen on drums and guest artist/guitarist Peter Bernstein. Guests include Brazilian percussionist Mauro Refosco and a horn section of Steven Bernstein and Ian Hendrickson Smith.

“Over the years, I developed into a guitarist and songwriter,” said Dobson, “But in my heart and soul, I am a jazz singer and improviser. And this album represents something essential that I needed to do.” Sasha added, “I’ve loved playing in diverse projects as a guitarist, drummer and vocalist, but I am always listening to jazz when I am home. That’s my happy place.”

Dobson, a member of Puss N Boots with Norah Jones and Catherine Popper, stars in the video for “The Great City,” a tribute to her hometown of New York City. The song was composed by Curtis Lewis and shows off Peter Bernstein’s swinging guitar work.
